About Baldi's Basics

Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning is an indie horror game by Basically Games that presents itself as a low-budget 1990s educational computer game. You visit a friend's school to collect seven notebooks they left behind. Each notebook contains math problems; solve them correctly and Baldi — your cheerful math teacher — praises you. Solve them incorrectly and he transitions to something much more threatening, chasing you through the school corridors that become harder to escape the more notebooks you collect.

The seven notebooks are scattered across a procedurally generated school with multiple rooms, stairwells, and hallways populated by a supporting cast of characters who each provide their own disruptive presence. The Principal enforces school rules and sends you to detention if you run in the halls. A bully blocks doorways demanding items in exchange for passage. A bouncing ball character moves unpredictably through corridors. Each character requires a different response strategy.

Essential Survival Tips

Never run in Baldi's line of sight — the Principal's detention mechanic is a significant time cost when Baldi is already accelerated. Prioritise collecting useful items before attempting notebooks; the energy drink, which lets you sprint briefly, and the alarm clock, which distracts Baldi, are the highest-value items in most runs. The final notebook's math problems are intentionally unsolvable, which means Baldi reaches maximum speed on that pickup — plan your escape route to the exit before collecting the seventh notebook.
