About Fireboy and Watergirl 4: Crystal Temple

Fireboy and Watergirl return for a fourth adventure inside the Crystal Temple, where light refraction is the core mechanic. Spinning prism chambers redirect laser beams, gem-powered platforms lock open doorways, and colour-coded crystal barriers respond only to the right character — red crystals to Fireboy, blue to Watergirl, amber to both working simultaneously.

The visual design is the most striking of the numbered titles. Reflections and sparkle effects fill each room, and the level designers lean into them — you'll often need to rotate a prism to light up a receiver across the entire chamber before either character can advance. It's a genuine step up in complexity from the Ice Temple.

Tips for Crystal Temple

Trace every laser beam before moving either character. Missing one active prism is the most common reason a room seems impossible when it isn't. Rotating mirrors can be activated by either character, so assign mirror duties to whoever isn't managing the gem-powered doors. The game is two-player by default — Player 1 on WASD, Player 2 on arrow keys — but solo play is possible with patient tab-switching.
