FNF Upside
About FNF Upside
FNF Upside is a Friday Night Funkin' mod that inverts the standard game's note presentation — all arrows fall upward from the bottom of the screen rather than downward from the top. The mod includes original songs and a new antagonist alongside the inverted mechanic, and the entire visual experience is flipped to create a deliberate disorientation that makes familiar FNF pattern reading surprisingly difficult.
The upward note direction is more impactful than it sounds at first. FNF players develop strong muscle memory tied to downward note fall and anticipation timing. Flipping the direction requires roughly the same recalibration period as switching handedness for a skill you've practiced for a long time — uncomfortable at first, then learnable, and ultimately a satisfyingly different experience once it clicks.
Getting Comfortable with the Flip
The original songs in FNF Upside are designed with moderate chart density to give players time to adjust to the inverted mechanic before complexity builds. The first song is intentionally gentle — treat it as a calibration run rather than aiming for a high score. By the second song the inverted reading should start feeling natural; the third song is when the charts become genuinely challenging on this new axis. Using the practice mode on individual songs is strongly recommended before attempting full weeks.
