Yandere Simulator is a stealth action game where you play as a lovesick high school student who will eliminate any rival who shows interest in your target. The game combines social stealth mechanics with open-ended sandbox design — each rival can be dealt with using multiple methods ranging from direct confrontation to manipulation, reputation damage, and indirect environmental setups. The game tracks your actions and reputation separately: a high reputation makes you appear innocent even when you're not; a low reputation makes teachers and students more suspicious of your actions.

The rival elimination methods range across a wide spectrum of engagement styles. Students who witness your more extreme methods will call the police or report to the teacher, creating a witness management layer that adds to the planning challenge. Many methods have no witnesses if executed correctly, while others require ensuring all potential observers are removed or distracted first.

Managing Your Reputation

The reputation system is the strategic meta-layer above each individual interaction. Maintaining high reputation between rivals gives you more flexibility in rival-interaction methods that would otherwise be too visible. Join school clubs early in the playthrough — club membership provides daily reputation maintenance that buffs your starting position each morning. When planning a method that could create witnesses, identify every student who passes within sight range of your intended location during the target time window and address those observation positions before executing the main action, rather than during.
