Zombie Derby: GYB is a side-scrolling zombie-crushing driving game where you take a heavily customisable vehicle from the left edge of each level to the right edge while running over as many zombies as possible. The 'GYB' variant expands the vehicle customisation system with more upgrade categories and a fuel management mechanic — your vehicle consumes fuel over the run and zombie eliminations drop fuel pickups, creating a loop where zombie engagement is both the score source and the resource source.

The upgrade system covers engine power, armour thickness, suspension, tyres, and weapons mounted on the vehicle. Each category has multiple upgrade tiers accessible through the coin currency earned from run performance. The suspension upgrade affects how the vehicle handles ramps and zombie piles, while tyre upgrades reduce speed loss from difficult terrain.

Upgrade Priority

Engine power should be your first upgrade priority because speed directly affects how many zombies you can reach and run over per fuel unit — a faster vehicle is inherently more fuel-efficient on zombie-dense levels. Armour is the second priority: unlocking the levels with larger zombie types requires armour that can withstand the impact damage of heavy zombies running into your hull rather than under your tyres. Weapon upgrades become disproportionately valuable in mid-game when zombie density increases to the point that the vehicle's direct impact damage can't clear groups fast enough without supplemental fire.
