Fireboy and Watergirl 1: Forest Temple
About Fireboy and Watergirl 1: Forest Temple
Fireboy and Watergirl: The Forest Temple is the beloved co-op puzzle platformer that defined a generation of classroom gaming. Control both Fireboy and Watergirl simultaneously (or with a friend) to navigate elemental puzzles — fire pits destroy Watergirl, water pools destroy Fireboy, and green slime kills both.
The Forest Temple introduces players to the core mechanics that carry through the entire series: lever puzzles, elemental barriers, and the need for perfect team coordination. Collect all coloured gems and lead both characters to their respective doors to complete each level.
How to Play
Player 1 controls Fireboy with Arrow Keys. Player 2 controls Watergirl with WASD. In single-player mode, you switch between controlling both characters. Step on pressure plates, pull levers, and push blocks to navigate each level.
Some platforms and levers require both characters to stand on them simultaneously. Coordinate your movements carefully and use each character's elemental immunity strategically — only Fireboy can safely pass through fire, and only Watergirl can pass through water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play Fireboy and Watergirl alone?
Yes — solo play has you controlling both characters alternately. It's harder but very satisfying.
Is Fireboy or Watergirl faster?
They're balanced equally in speed. Fireboy can jump slightly differently due to his heavier build.
Tips & Strategies
In single-player, position the idle character on a safe platform before switching — a character left standing on a hazard tile will die while you're controlling the other.
Levers and buttons usually have visible wires leading to the door or platform they control. Trace the wires before acting to understand the puzzle structure.
